OUR APPROACH

Clear sources.
Shared with honesty.

Loop & Linen is a growing, text-first crochet reference journal. We help readers understand terminology, pattern language, yarn and tools, and common crochet problems.

What we publish

Our current focus is researched guides, accessible conversion charts, definitions, and troubleshooting explanations. We cite factual references and explain uncertainty when conventions differ. We do not currently offer filmed tutorials or physically tested original patterns.

Research and fact-checking

We prioritize standards organizations, yarn manufacturers, and established crochet publishers. We cross-check conversions and distinguish a publisher's convention from a universal rule. Guides identify their terminology and sources. Publication and substantive update dates must reflect actual editorial work.

Research is different from testing

A researched reference does not establish that we have made a project or tried a technique. Illustrative instruction fragments explain language; they are not complete project patterns. We do not invent practical experience, professional qualifications, original photographs, or independent technical review.

Any future original pattern must include accurate materials, relevant gauge, dimensions, stitch counts, instructions, and documented testing notes. Curated third-party patterns must credit and link to the original designer. Unfinished placeholders are excluded from indexing, feeds, and public article listings.

Images and accessibility

Reference information stays in selectable HTML text and tables. Decorative illustrations do not demonstrate stitch construction. Stock and Freepik images require a suitable license for the exact asset and use, with attribution when required. AI-generated decorative images must be identified and must not be presented as real project photographs, tested outcomes, or stitch demonstrations.

AI assistance and attribution

AI assists with research organization, drafting, and editing, including our written beginner guides and US and UK terminology reference. Readers can check the linked sources. AI assistance is not evidence of practical crochet experience. Articles attributed to Loop & Linen use the publication's name; individual authors or reviewers are never invented.

Corrections

If a guide conflicts with a pattern, consult that pattern's glossary or publisher first. Flag factual issues through the website's GitHub issue page (requires a GitHub account and enabled issues). Include the article URL, disputed wording, and supporting source. Substantive corrections should be recorded on the affected article.
